Prepping for vacation

I'll be heading out for vacation tomorrow, so this'll be the last update until early July. Who knows, there may be another one later today.

So I'm prepping for going away. Making sure my vacation rule in outlook functions properly. Turning off some log-cleanup routines so we don't lose data while I'm out. Upgrading PCounter to the new rev.

Pretty quiet.

Outlook? Can't you convince them to get GroupWise?

The current mail administrator came from a GroupWise office before working here. In his opinion, and he'll tell anyone who asks, Exchange is by far the cleaner environment to work in. It gives us the features we need, and has one feature that GroupWise has historically had real problems with... space-quotas. In this world of database-backed mail-systems, the idea of a space-quota is a bit... misleading. Exchange provides a way to automatically smack users that breach the defined quotas. GroupWise can do that with 3rd party (i.e. shell out more money) stuff, if at all.Plus Exchange uses a full-out relational database, and GroupWise uses the same kind of DB it used in the WPO days (but much improved). While zippy for what it does, it still has the 'proprietary database' stigma attached to it.Due to such advocacy and his relative position, it'd take an act of God to shift us to GroupWise. Melissa wasn't big enough.
